THE ONES THAT GOT AWAY - Not all old west outlaws ended their careers being either killed or imprisoned. Many simply walked away or retired, others disappeared, living out their lives in fearful obscurity. While most of the of the Wild Bunch were either killed or imprisoned, it was not the case for all. Many of it's former members and associates simply disappeared or retired from outlawry before being caught. So who were these, and how did they get away, some literally with murder?

"Kid" Johnson's" partner Charlie Ross Escapes Jail
Just over a month after the killing of Albuquerque town Marshals McGuire and Henry "Kid" Johnson's partner in crime, Charlie Ross, along with another prisoner Peter Trinkhaus escape the Bernalillo County jail and make good their escape on the night of Jan. 4th, 1887. It was believed to be an inside job. Posses were immediately sent out to apprehend the miscreants. Just two weeks later both Trinkhaus and Ross along with Joe Chancellor alias "Kid" Johnson would be involved in a train wrecking that would rock New Mexico.
